Pierre Robert, Principle Attorney
Pierre came to LGPS at LCOG from the former LGPI where he served as its Sr. Labor Relations Attorney since early in 2015. He began his 28-year career first as a Deputy District Attorney then as a criminal defense attorney. Since 2008 he as focused more and more on labor & employment. Pierre has authored dozens of articles reporting developments in Oregon public sector labor law and is a member of the Labor & Employment Law and Litigation Sections of the Oregon State Bar.
From 2008 to 2011, Pierre served as Assistant County Counsel IV for Lane County as the County’s primary court room litigator and labor & employment law counsel. He defended claims brought against the County in state and federal court and represented the County in labor arbitrations before both private arbitrators and the Oregon Employment Relations Board. He served on teams to bargain both successor contracts and single issues in mid-contract.
Since joining LGPI in 2015, Pierre has specialized exclusively in advising and representing Oregon cities, counties and special districts to navigate their most sensitive labor relations matters. He specializes in leading management teams at the table in collective bargaining, in guiding management through employee discipline processes and in defending against union grievances and unfair labor practice complaints. “Wherever I’m summoned, managers need advice and often a spokesperson to ensure their interests in bargaining agreements or to prevent or mitigate a labor dispute. My approach focuses on identifying management and union interests alike to most effectively advocate for management’s authority and to produce agreements to improve employee relations at large.”
Away from work, Pierre is an avid swimmer who enjoys hiking and camping in Oregon’s great outdoors and spending time with his two sons.
